A Glimpse of Our 1st Christmas

More pictures will be coming but for now... here goes. Justin and I decided to spend our first Christmas at home enjoying a quiet holiday... also known as avoiding the entire topic of "which family do we spend the holidays with". Our church held a candlelight service on Christmas Eve which was beautiful and our Christmas was a relaxing day. We are so blessed to have gotten to spend Christmas together. The cats thoroughly enjoyed playing with the bows and tissue paper, trying to eat the ribbon, not to mention jumping in every single box. Many of the gifts were drenched 2 days before Christmas when the cats (or maybe I should say Blue) knocked the Christmas tree over. The tree stand held 12 cups of water so it made quite a mess. We locked the cats in the bathroom which led to the chorus "Howling in Dismay" from them and Justin got the upholstry cleaner out and was trying to suck up all the water when (what you thought that was the end of the drama?)... someone from church knocked on the door. Tree needles are all over everything including the table, ornaments are scattered, the tree is propped against the front door, presents are soaked, the vacuum was humming and the cats were howling. What a scene it was. Looking back we have laughed so much about the day's events but at the time... the cats were on the Naughty List.

Two days before Christmas we came home from church to discover what our "precious little angels" have been up to... After this they were in lock down whenever there was no adult supervision until the Christmas tree was taken down.

The excitement of our 1st Christmas got to me and I decided to sew our stockings (Mistake #1)... designed in our heads before we found a pattern (Mistake #2)which I tried to modify to our idealistic world (Mistake #3). After many glasses of wine (the first good decision made during the process) and many weekends spent wondering "why on earth didn't we just buy our stockings"... I finished them. Woo hoo!

Justin's 1st real Christmas tree... we enjoyed countless hours just sitting there enjoying it and watching the cats play/attack it.
