This week has been extremely busy and from the outside it might not appear that it was my last week in the office... it felt like just another work week to me. Long hours and the first 3 days I was the last one to the leave the office but then it happened... my last day. I had chosen September 11th as my last day at work for pratical reasons, never thinking of the symbolism but as I walked into the building yesterday morning it hit me. I was crossing the catwalk and I noticed the flag at half staff... and I immediately paused to remember the day that changed our country 7 years ago. I'm not sure I would have joined the military had it not been for that day... and what an honor it has been to serve. While I had always desired to be deployed in the Global War on Terror, the Lord had other plans, better plans for my and Justin's life. The day ended as I tried to quietly slip out the back door, not wanting goodbyes. My time of service was complete and now it's time to enter a new season, that of the Navy Wife.
I was blessed to spend today with one of my dear friends here, a fellow Navy Wife as we celebrated the roles the Lord has given us. While I must say it's somewhat disorienting NOT having to wake up at a set time... and I may miss having someone to yell out occasionally, I'm very excited to be JUST a stay at home wife. I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful husband, a man whom I can truly look forward to serving!
