Justin and I have spent the last week in Sacramento visiting with my parents, brother, aunt and uncle... hence the reason for the long silence. We've had a wonderful visit and I have got some great pictures from our 3 day trip to South Lake Tahoe to post! Yup, we drove up in the mess for skiing and sledding fun. I chose not to ski because I didn't want to risk falling and further injuring my neck but Ryan and Justin had a great time in the fresh powder. On Tuesday I took Justin on a Sleigh Ride! Literally a horse drawn sleigh that took us over a snow covered meadow!
Justin and Ryan went back up Monday and learned how to put chains on the 4Runner (fortunately we had bought them prior to them driving up because there's a huge markup on the mountain). For those who don't know how road control works... they literally creat a check point on the road and NO ONE is allowed through without chains or 4 wheel drive with snow tires. They also have a bunch of men standing by to put your chains on (for a fee) or to sale you chains (for the balance of your stock funds)... ha ha. It's crazy and really slow going with chains (no more than 45 mph) but it kept them safe.
So today we're driving home to Monterey to spend Christmas relaxing at home before beginning our big drive to Phoenix. Ugh. I think we calculated it at 13 hours including stops. Anyway, before we leave I'll post the pictures and some videos of us sledding. We had a blast and some awesome runs that we recorded (including the wipe out where Justin and I cracked the sled in 3 places!
For now... Merry Christmas Eve and stay safe out there with all the last minute shoppers!
