On Monday, a Marine Corp F/A-18 crashed into a house in San Diego killing two babies, the mom and grandma. I was horrified, somewhat mad and once again (for extremely selfish reasons) glad Justin is no longer flying. Last night CNN had the most amazing headline. I was humbled and amazed to read about the grace being extended by the man who lost his entire family in the crash. In speaking of the pilot, the man said:
"I pray for him not to suffer for this action. I know he's one of our treasures for our country. I believe my wife and two babies and mother-in-law are in heaven with God. I don't have any hard feelings. I know he did everything he could."
WOW! The faith of this man is humbling to extend such grace! This is what we are all called to. An example like this shows just how large the task is and how desperately we need Christ's help.
Sidenote: I read today that when the pilot realized he wasn't going to make it to Miramar, he aimed for an empty ravine where he tried to put the plane down... but with no engines, he was 200' short.
