This is our 4th day in England... our trip is passing rapidly! We flew into London early Monday morning (which felt like midnight to us) and after getting slightly lost, we were able to find our hotel and check in. Being the motivated travelers that we are, we decided there was no need for a nap and took off to explore London... a decision we regretted about 2 hours later as the extreme jet lag kicked in and we kept looking for dark corners to take a nap inside the Churchill War Room Museum. We did find a great pub to enjoy a fish and chip lunch at! It's always fun trying to figure out the customs in foreign countries... like do you tip when you're at a restaurant or is it already included in your bill? Thank goodness for travel books!
With only 1 1/2 days to see London, we had to keep moving! We walked by the Westminster Abbey but decided to pass on walking through. On to see Big Ben and the House of Parliament. We considered riding the London Eye but apparently it takes an hour... and again, time was not something we had a lot of (perhaps we'll do that on the backside of our trip). Along the way we stopped at countless Cafes for caffeine pick me ups in the form of Italian cappucino.
Finally, unable to go on any longer, we headed back to our hotel for so much needed sleep (we had been going for about 32 hours by the time we went to bed).
Sunday morning we got up early ready to charge hard for the few hours remaining in London. We started walking and decided to ask a Police Officer where we could find some breakfast since all the Cafes we walked by were closed. "Well it's a might early. Nothing opens until 10am". What?!
Day 2 included a walk over to Buckingham Palace and then a lovely nap in Hyde Park (we were still fighting the jet lag I think). We walked over to the Wellington Monument and then found a few main roads full of shops that we wandered through before deciding it was time to head to the train station and depart for Liverpool. The English countryside made for a lovely train ride and I'm hoping to get some pictures of the lush green hills and manors... simply spectacular.
I'm slightly disappointed that we won't have time to go explore the English countryside more... but I guess that gives us a reason to come back next year!

we're officially jealous of your trip to the Churchill war room!
To visit the Yellow Hats, of course!
