Family Updates

Justin - is almost through another quarter of grad school. 6 down, 2 more to go before he'll graduate with a Masters in Applied Physics. I'm so impressed by how smart he is and I pray our children will get his brains. He's started working on his thesis project and seems to be making headway on it.
Jen - has been enjoying decorating the house for the holidays and baking all kinds of yummy holiday cookies (although my thighs are hating me right now). The recovery from this last miscarriage has been so slow and as a result I battle discouragement weekly. We're praying that my body will be able to rid itself of the remaining Hcg (aka- pregnancy hormone) and that we'll be able to gain closure and continue healing.
Blue & Angel - are so very excited about having a Christmas tree up with all kinds of new toys (aka- ornaments)! They're especially grateful that we placed the tree next to the couch so they could reach the ornaments that are higher up!

News
Justin got word a few weeks ago that we should receive orders no later than February to our next duty station... San Diego! I still wish we were going back east but we're both very excited to be leaving Monterey.

Whats been happening over the month...
We hadn't planned on traveling for the holidays but as Thanksgiving approached I decided that I really needed a distraction during the holiday... so we made plans to drive to Sacramento to spend the holiday with Aunty Donna and Uncle Stephen. We celebrated a scaled back Thanksgiving feast but enjoyed each dish and the relaxing holiday. Justin cooked yet another fabulous turkey (and no, he didn't "harvest" one of the neighborhood turkeys).

We drove home on Saturday evening trying to avoid the horrendous traffic on Sunday. So thankful we avoided all that traffic! Sunday after church I asked Justin if we could go get a Christmas tree. Last year we didn't get a tree since we were traveling so much so I was eager to decorate our tree. We made the trek to a tree farm about 40 minutes away and found this tree! You should have seen the kids trying to take our picture! He couldn't figure out our camera since you have to look through the view finder! Ha ha! So the tree is up and decorated... and I'm hoping we avoid the debacle from 2 years ago when this happened...

Yup... we came home from church 3 days before Christmas to find this. Justin has enhanced the tree stand since then so we're hoping this doesn't happen again... but the cats are extremely interested. Only time will tell :)
