28th Birthday... Yikes!

Susan Homemaker I am NOT!  I was raised a Southern girl so in some ways I feel like I'm a failure because I'm not a better homemaker.  Case and point... Tuesday was my wonderful hubby's birthday.  My Southern up raising would say the house should have been cleaned and decorated, dinner cooking on the stove and the cake chilling in the ice box... BUT as I said, Susan Homemaker I am not (although I am trying).  In reality the house was half cleaned and half decorated, the cheesecake was in the oven and dinner... well... the ingredients were on the counter.  Sigh.  Fortunately my husband loves to cook so he jumped in the kitchen and helped me.  How lucky am I?!?

Can I say in my own defense that I had Bible Study that morning until noon, it was raining and I had to go to 4 stores to get all the ingredients for dinner (not to mention Justin was suppose to bring breakfast to his Bible Study the next morning... which meant buying all the fixings to make breakfast for 15 men!).  I kind of felt like I was doing pretty good just having picked up the clutter and gotten the cheesecake going.

I eventually finished decorating...

Did I mention we broke out the China and Crystal?  Yup, we dined on fine china and a plastic table cloth.  Yikes!  Don't tell my mom!  I think I'm going to have to sew a Birthday table cloth... but that's a whole other topic. I'm open to any suggestions or ideas on the Birthday table cloth idea.

Here's the birthday boy!  He's finally my age again... 28.  I'm so proud to say I robbed the cradle... by 5 months ;)

Yummm!  Cheesecake!  We're still enjoying it.  Thank goodness I have an elliptical now!  Random thought... is it me or is it kind of cool the way the "8" melted???

After our friend left, Justin got to open his gifts.  What do you think of the tie I got him???

What, you thought I was serious?!?  No no.  My family is huge on regifting and this is from my dad.  I'm going to guess that the tie is older than Justin.  LOL...

Justin's parents sent him this...

As soon as he opened it he said, "You've got to be kidding!  They're making them for my birth year now?!?  Man I feel old!"  Poor baby.  Imagine how he's going to feel next year when it's the end of his 20's.  Sigh.  Where did they go?!?

you did good, the decorations and cake look wonderful!

I am not suzy homemaker, either. Some day, when the kids are up and grown, maybe then I will be!

p.s. I gave you a beautiful blogger award, it's up at my blog.

much grace and peace to you,

At least your cake didn't roll off the plate into a big puddle on the table while you sang Happy Bithday! Maybe this year I will have to try a cheesecake for your dad's b'day. Wonder how I can destroy it---let me count the ways. You are a great wife and you made your husband feel loved and valued on his b'day and that is what is is all about.
P.S. Have more ties where that one came from. Any special color you are interested in?
