Luggage Tag

When I was growing up we use to travel a lot.  My mom was born and raised in California and all her family still lived there... so every summer we flew to San Francisco.  Traveling was different back then.  We didn't roll into the airport in our pajamas with our hair disheveled and looking like we were hung over... and we certainly made sure our underwear was never shown to fellow travelers!  I hear that this phenomenom is called a "whale tail"... drives me crazy but back to my story.  Rather we were in our Sunday's best... a dress, normally tights or stockings (so you didn't get too cold).  I remember running down the concourse many times with my church shoes in my hands because we had to run to catch our plane!  When I was in Jr. High I was finally allowed to start wearing pants on the plane but only after my mom heard a story from a friend.  The story involved an emergency landing, the slides on the airplane (since they wouldn't let the plane pull up to the concourse)... and a dress that was up around the woman's neck when she got to the bottom of the slide :)  LOL.  Pants!  Not jeans... but pants!  Talk about shaking things up!

I remember my mom would never let us get to close to the baggage carousel once it started moving, mainly because she didn't want us in the way.  Back then they had someone who you had to show your luggage claim to before you left the airport with your bag.  Wow!  How much has changed!

When the airlines pulled the employees who verified no one left with a bag that wasn't theirs... is when the ugly yarns started getting tied to the suitcases.  I guess the logic was that if someone was trying to leave with your suitcase you would notice... but for this to work meant it wasn't just yarn tied to the suitcase... oh no, it was the loudest, brightest, most embarrassing colored yarn or ribbon!  Maybe that's why I've rebelled and refuse to tie anything to my suitcase.  My way of easily spotting my bag... luggage tags!  I try to find nice but unique tags that make our bags easy to spot.... and here's my most recent addition:

Do you get it?  I laughed so much when I found this!  Perhaps I enjoy dry humor too much... but laughing makes the heart merry... so laugh away friends!

Okay, so they were ugly. We never had someone take our luggage did we! You need to be thankful for the shopping world the internet has opened to you!
