After surviving the jean shopping experience, we decided to visit the Winchester Mystery House. This house is testament to what happens when a person has too much money and time on their hands... and doesn't know the Lord.
Mrs. Winchester married Oliver Winchester... as in the Winchester revolving rifle. He was actually the son of the companies founder. Anyway, Mrs. Winchester's only child died at 6 weeks of age. 15 years later her husband died of TB. Apparently Mrs. Winchester was convinced the spirits of all those killed by the Winchester rifle were haunting her... so she went to a medium (as in spirits and what not) who told her to buy a house out west and turn it into a great house for the spirits. As long as construction never ceased, her life would be safe. So she did. Every night she would have a saence and based on what the spirits told her, those were the construction plans for the next day. 33 years later and $5M... you can only guess the oddities that exist. Doors that lead to no where, stairs that lead to the ceiling, etc.
Odd. As a Construction Manager, I cringed at the thought of building based on something sketched on a napkin.
So we've checked the box and have the picture to prove we were there. Does this mean we can move now???

That is one of the creepiest things I have ever heard... Does anyone live there now?
Nobody has lived there since she died. Just a very odd and somewhat creepy house.
never visited it, but have heard of it.
Laughing at your CM comment,my husband is in construction, and your comment made me realize that touring this house would probably drive him a little batty!
We've toured amazing, beautiful buildings before, and I am always amused to find him looking at the plumbing or masonry or something...!
